Tideswell is one of the Peak Districts most popular picturesque villages and is an ideal base for walking, cycling and climbing. Within easy reach of nature reserves and close to the popular Monsal Trail, the village is also conveniently located to the nearby market towns of Buxton and Bakewell. The Pennine Bridleway, open to cyclists, walkers and horse riders, also weaves up through the Peak District to the west of Tideswell.
The main feature in the village is it’s magnificent 14th Century church, known locally as ‘The Cathedral of the Peak’. The church was built between 1346 and 1386 and its superb pinnacled tower has dominated the village for over 600 years.
The village is also well known for its annual Well Dressing, which starts on the Saturday nearest to the 24th June and continues for a week with carnivals, parades and fun for the whole family.
