Tideswell is a large thriving village with plenty to offer
Set in wonderful walking country, Tideswell is one of the Peak Districts most popular picturesque villages and makes an excellent base for walking, cycling and exploring the area. Within easy reach of nature reserves and close to the popular Monsall Trail, the village is just 20 minutes drive to the nearby market towns of Buxton and Bakewell.
The Pennine Bridleway, open to cyclists, walkers and horse riders, also weaves up through the Peak District to the west of Tideswell. At the southern end of the village is Tideswell Dale, where there is a nature reserve with car park and a picnic area featuring a delightful sculpture trail.
The main feature in the village is it’s magnificent 14th Century church, known locally as ‘The Cathedral of the Peak’. The church was built between 1346 and 1386 and its superb pinnacled tower has dominated the village for over 600 years. The village is also well known for its annual Well Dressing with carnivals, parades and fun for the whole family together with the annual Food festival offering an array of demonstrations, stalls, entertainment and of course outstanding food!
You can also arrange a grocery delivery from local Tideswell shops - There are excellent sports and recreational facilities including two children's play areas. |
